Effects of Traffic and Local Movements on Multipath Characteristics of an Indoor Radio Channel

چکیده
Introduction: Multipath propagation characteristics for indoor radio channels has recently attracted tremendous attention. There have been attempts to study the statistics of the multipath spread and to model the indoor radio channel.’-5 The effects of short time variations in the delay spread and power, caused by human traffic around a transmitter and receiver, has not yet been thoroughly investigated. Such variations are of importance in digital communication systems. Measurements taken to determine the short time changes in the RMS delay spread and the received power are reported. The variations are caused by local traffic close to the terminals and local movements of the terminals in the indoor radio channel. The issue of Doppler spread and the narrowband received power caused by such local disturbances are addressed in Reference 6.

Statistics of short time and spatial variations measured in wideband indoor radio channels - Microwaves, Antennas and Propagation, IEE Proceedings H
In an indoor environment, channel variations which occur most frequently are due to the movement of personnel near the transmitting or receiving antennas and/or local movements of the terminals around a given location. Such spatial and short time variations in the indoor radio channel are studied and determined by performing wideband propagation experiments in line of sight and nonline of sight...

This paper describes the development and operation of a dual-band time~domain radar system used to measure indoor multipath propagation characteristics in several office buildings and factories. The system operates at 1.3 GHz and 4.0 GHz, and uses 4 ns rms pulses to provide estimates of indoor radio channel impulse responses. The effects of ante.nna diversity, .frequency scaling, and topography...
متن کاملIndoor Non-directed Optical Wireless Communications - Optimization of the Lambertian Order
For an indoor non-directed line of sight optical wireless communication (NLOS-OWC) system we investigate the optimized Lambertian order (OLO) of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). We firstly derive an expression for the OLO from a conventional Lambertian LED model. Then, we analyze the indoor multi-cell NLOS-OWC channel characteristics including the optical power distribution and the multipath time ...

Despite of the great advances in Global Positioning System (GPS) technology, millions of people still cannot be located when they are in indoor environment. The signal transmitted from the Navstar satellites experiences severe attenuation while penetrating all the construction materials. The characteristics of the indoor propagation is still not well understood and the question whether the GPS ...
